Each class is offered on a rolling basis and are designed to be taken at least a few weeks apart. The opportunity to take the concepts back “to your desk” and then have the opportunity to hear from and check in with colleagues weeks later is part of the program design. Some staff and faculty go months between sessions, some do them one after the other. Classes are designed in a way that repeating them can bring different perspective. Whatever works best with your schedule.
From the Chancellor’s “Cultivating Connections” page:
“…our rich set of resources … [are] … designed to help students, faculty, staff, and our local neighbors engage in meaningful learning and empathetic, intellectually-rigorous discourse across a wide spectrum of cultural, ideological, and societal viewpoints.”
University commitments invite everyone in our WashU community to build habits, practices, and skills to engage in ways that can take time to incorporate and take ongoing “exercise” to maintain. The Engage EDI program is designed as an ongoing resource in addition to continually centering how university commitments interplay with day-to-day work responsibilities.
While each class builds on the previous one, each participant is encouraged and supported to approach the series in the way that best works for them. Participants get something out of each class. The learning is not diminished by taking one and not immediately moving on to the next.
Staff and Faculty can find the Commit Series of Engage EDI in Workday Learning by visiting the Browse Learning page and searching for “Commit.”

Yes to both! Even if teams don’t attend the same class time, teams are encouraged to make time outside of classes to reflect on learnings and insights. There will also be opportunity to connect with individuals from across the university who are moving through the series.
